Introduction
Hwesa Association, a non-profit organization committed to community upliftment and charitable activities, organized a community cleaning campaign in Epworth to mark Good Deeds Day. The campaign, conducted from Chiremba to Munyuki, was aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, hygiene awareness, and responsible waste disposal—particularly focusing on women and children’s health.
Objectives
To promote a clean and healthy environment in Epworth.
To educate residents on proper waste disposal practices.
To empower women through active participation in community health initiatives.
To build partnerships with other community stakeholders.
Key Activities
Street Cleaning:
Volunteers, mainly women, cleaned the streets from Chiremba to Munyuki, removing litter and debris.
Proper Disposal Education:
Residents, especially women with babies, were taught the importance of disposing of baby diapers properly to prevent health hazards such as cholera outbreaks.
Dead Animal Removal:
A dead dog was discovered during the cleanup and safely removed, preventing possible contamination and unpleasant odor.
