Our team had the opportunity to provide an overview of Action for Youth Foundation Trust to graduates completing their short courses at Highfields Community Centre. The engagement introduced participants to the organization’s work, ongoing projects and commitment to promoting the health and well being of young people within communities. Graduates were encouraged to remain active in initiatives that support positive youth development.

Orientation sessions on HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights were also conducted during the engagement. Discussions focused on HIV prevention, treatment and care, responsible decision making and the importance of accessing youth friendly health services early. Participants were empowered with accurate information aimed at strengthening awareness and reducing misinformation around sexual health.

The interaction created a valuable platform for connecting with young people at an important stage of their transition and growth. Equipping graduates with health knowledge alongside their newly acquired skills contributes to building informed, confident and responsible communities. Action for Youth Foundation Trust remains committed to reaching more young people with life changing information and support services.

Happening now at Highfields Community Centre through our Sexual Health and Reproductive Education for Youth in Tertiary Education and HIV and STI hot spot areas Project, our team in partnership with National AIDS Council of Zimbabwe is providing HIV self testing kits, condoms and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights education to young people graduating today at the centre. The initiative is creating an important opportunity for youths to access accurate health information and essential prevention services in a safe and supportive environment.

Our team is engaging young people on HIV prevention, treatment and care while encouraging responsible health seeking behaviours and early access to health services. Access to HIV self testing kits and condoms remains important in empowering young people to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. Health education continues to play a key role in reducing stigma, misinformation and vulnerability among youths.

Young people and community members around Highfields Community Centre are encouraged to come through and access the free services being offered today. Taking the step to know your status and receive accurate SRHR information is an important investment in your health and future. Our team is ready to support and assist everyone in a confidential and youth friendly environment.

Effective planning creates a strong foundation for successful implementation and meaningful impact. This week, in preparation for Phase 2 of the Saving African Families Enterprise (SAFE) funded Economic Strengthening Program for Young Positives + Project, our team successfully completed a Training of Trainers session on Pine Gel making. The training strengthened the capacity of the team to deliver practical and sustainable livelihood skills to young people living with HIV.

The Training of Trainers session equipped participants with valuable technical knowledge, production techniques and facilitation approaches required during beneficiary trainings. Focus was placed on ensuring quality production standards, confidence in practical demonstrations and effective transfer of skills during community based training sessions. Building the capacity of trainers remains essential in ensuring that beneficiaries receive accurate guidance and practical support.

The Economic Strengthening Program for Young Positives ESP4Y+ Project continues to address economic vulnerability among young people living with HIV through sustainable livelihood initiatives. Economic hardships remain one of the major barriers affecting treatment adherence, mental well being and long term stability among youths living with HIV. The project therefore seeks to empower beneficiaries with practical income generating skills while strengthening confidence, independence and resilience.

Implemented by Action for Youth Foundation-Trust across three districts in Harare Province, the ESP4Y+ Project continues to create pathways toward economic empowerment and improved quality of life for young people living with HIV. Through skills development, mentorship and community based joint ventures, the project contributes towards reducing stigma and supporting positive living. We remain committed to creating opportunities that strengthen livelihoods and promote dignity among young people.
