Throwback Thursday: ICW Mozambique in Action.

On April 13 –14, 2026, ICW Mozambique participated in a hands on training course for the study of Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) in children and adults. The training focused on strengthening practical skills especially accurate completion of clinical and research forms, a critical step in improving the quality of AHD data and care.

As part of the IMPAAC4HIV technical group (Improved Access to AHD and Treatment 4 HIV), ICW continues to ensure that the voices and expertise of women living with HIV are represented in technical spaces that shape treatment access, policy, and implementation.

Maternal health is more than a medical concern. It is a fundamental human right. Every woman deserves a safe pregnancy, dignified care, and the opportunity to thrive before, during, and after childbirth.

When mothers are protected, families flourish and when women are valued, communities grow stronger.

This Women’s Month of March, we continue to say:
Freedom is incomplete when woman still faces violence, discrimination, or inequality.
The numbers remind us why this fight matters for ALL women:

1 in 3 women worldwide experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. In sub‑Saharan Africa, women and girls make up 63% of all new HIV infections. Moreover, Young women aged 15–24 are three times more likely to acquire HIV than young men.
Millions of women still face stigma in healthcare, workplaces, and communities simply for being who they are.

This month, and every month, we honor ALL women.
We uplift their voices.
We stand with every woman fighting for her freedom.

Echoing the words from our sister in Lesotho, “Letšoele le beta poho,” meaning Together we can fight this.

A reminder that no challenge, no illness, and no struggle is too big when we stand united. Her message carries strength and hope, reinforcing that when we come together, we overcome.

Let’s support one another, raise awareness, and keep choosing community over silence.
Together, we are stronger.

Let’s choose compassion, check in on one another, and create spaces where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued. Because mental health isn’t optional.

Under this year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” we call on governments, institutions, and communities to close legal gaps, dismantle unjust systems, and uphold women’s rights. Achieving gender equality requires more and it demands ongoing, collective action to create safe and equitable environments where all women and girls can thrive.

Today, we continue to echo the powerful words from Hillary Clinton’s 1995 UN Beijing Conference speech: “Women’s rights are human rights.”
