✨ A Powerful Gathering of Women in Harare! ✨

Yesterday, over 400 women filled the Anglican Cathedral Hall in Harare for a truly momentous gathering organized by the Gender Community of Practice, joining the global celebration of .

The event brought together an inspiring delegation of speakers, partners, and organizers including representatives from UNDP Zimbabwe, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, UN WomenUNFPA, the EU Delegation to Zimbabwe, and the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development.

Faith leaders and organizations also stood in solidarity, including the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference, Zimbabwe Council of Churches, Union for the Development of Apostolic Churches in Zimbabwe Africa, and the Fellowship of Zimbabwe(EFZ), alongside many civil society organizations under the Gender and Faith Network Side by Side Zimbabwe (GFN).

The atmosphere was electric — a powerful blend of worship, celebration, empowerment, and learning.

💬 Throughout the gathering, women were encouraged to:
• Step confidently into leadership roles
• Embrace their abilities and talents
• Recognize the unique gifts they carry
• To continue pray and ACT
• Continue serving and transforming the communities entrusted to them

It was more than an event — it was a movement of inspiration, unity, and purpose, reminding us that when women rise, communities and nations rise with them.

Did you know that :
☑️Online harassment can lead to offline abuse or violence that can last for decades?
☑️The mental health of women and girls in Zimbabwe is being affected by online trolling and cyber bulling?

The impact of such experiences is long lasting, and we call upon young women and girls to invest in being digitally literate, to know how best to engage online and protect their data, personal images and information, to exercise diligence, to take back their power, authority and personhood and not allow reckless users to destroy their lives.

In a world created for dignity, safety, and justice, our digital spaces should uplift women and girls — not endanger them.

Yet across Africa and beyond, millions of women and girls walk through online spaces that feel like minefields.
A single message… a comment… a post… can quickly turn into harassment, threats, or real-life violence.

🔸 Private photos stolen without consent
🔸 Lies spreading in seconds
🔸 Locations tracked
🔸 AI twisted to create deepfakes meant to shame and silence

As people of faith, we believe every woman and girl is created in God’s image — deserving of protection, respect, and the freedom to thrive both online and offline. Digital violence betrays our values of love, justice, and community.

✨ This 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov – 10 Dec), ACT Alliance Zimbabwe stands with churches, communities, and rights advocates calling for technology to become a tool for equality, empowerment, and truth — not harm.

Let us speak boldly.
Let us help build a digital world where all women and girls are safe, valued, and free.

Essential and timely 🌍 📊
The gender community of practice continues to invest in capacity-building around climate and economic justice. The points about building economic resilience and ensuring a just transition are critical and relevant to the global climate justice discourse, particularly when considering how vulnerable women and youth in informal work are to climate-related risks (droughts, floods) and price shocks.
Special thanks to Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife for facilitating such a crucial conversation! Looking forward to seeing how the gender CoP puts these learnings into action.

Exciting times ahead !!☘️

Such an inspiring milestone - LLCA Phase III clearly builds on strong foundations, and it’s exciting to see even more innovation coming in, from climate-resilient agribusiness hubs and strengthened youth digital advocacy to the integration of indigenous knowledge and sustainable natural resource management.
Well done MeDRA Zimbabwe and looking forward to supporting you in this journey towards climate-smart livelihoods and systemic transformation.

Yesterday, the ACT Alliance Community of Practice on Livelihoods and Climate Justice met together for a workshop focused on strengthening faith-based engagement in climate adaptation and global climate negotiations. The theme of the meeting was “Building Faith Actors’ Capacity to Influence Climate Adaptation Priorities and COP30 Outcomes”. Through dynamic sessions led by climate policy experts and faith actors, participants explored how faith communities can meaningfully contribute to National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and COP30 processes, while leveraging their uniqueness as trusted voices in communities. Faith leaders are uniquely positioned to translate moral conviction into policy influence, champion people-centred adaptation, and ensure that national and global climate priorities reflect the realities of those most at risk and as such, the community of practice has a high regard for such engagements.

Post workshop reflections indicated a sense of readiness to continue to place faith actors on the forefront of climate adaptation priorities. In addition, the meeting also became a useful platform for the development of a draft, renewed call to action that captures the thoughts, asks and expectations of the faith community in light of COP 30, and beyond.

Overall, the livelihoods and climate justice CoP envisions a continued culture of working together, moving from dialogue to action, and collectively, advancing a vision where faith, justice, and climate resilience walk hand in hand. 🌱✨

What a wonderful achievement! 🌍💧 This recognition from Brot für die Welt is a true reflection of the dedication and impact of the work taking place in Mbizvo Village and other rural communities. It’s heartwarming to see Zimbabwe’s villages gaining global recognition for their resilience, creativity, and unity.

The journey from improved water access to flourishing gardens and stronger livelihoods shows how dignity and self-reliance can grow when people work together with purpose and hope.

Well done to the entire team and partners for living out the spirit of faith through action — turning compassion into lasting change. May this story continue to inspire others across the world to support sustainable, community-led development. 🙏✨

It was a profound privilege to coordinate this vital initiative in Zimbabwe's rural communities, a collaborative effort spearheaded by Zimbabwe Council of ChurchesMeDRA Zimbabwe and Development Service (LDS). In a region where livelihoods are particularly vulnerable to external shocks, this partnership has been a beacon of hope. Churches and faith-based organizations remain steadfastly committed to their moral and humanitarian imperative: to be a force for positive, sustainable change, reaching out to those most at risk, including the poor and marginalized. Our shared mission is to help restore dignity, secure livelihoods, and build resilient communities that can not only endure but thrive.
