Men's Health Month Commemoration | Gwanda Centre of Excellence

Gwanda Centre of Excellence (COE), in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Zimbabwe Open University, the National AIDS Council, and other valued partners, proudly commemorated Men's Health Month

The event aimed to raise awareness about preventable health conditions affecting men and to encourage men and boys to take charge of their health by seeking regular medical check-ups, embracing healthy lifestyles, and accessing available health services.

Community members benefited from a range of free health services provided by our partner organisations, including:
✅ HIV testing and counselling
✅ TB and silicosis screening
✅ Prostate cancer screening and awareness
✅ Diabetes screening
✅ Mental health screening
✅ Condom and lubricant distribution
Together, we are creating healthier communities by promoting early diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and overall well-being.

Every conversation has the power to change a life.

The AHF Midlands Prevention Team in collaboration with NAC, joined Central Radio to shine a light on one of the biggest barriers to ending HIV—stigma, especially among young people. While HIV is preventable, treatable, and manageable, stigma continues to prevent many from getting tested, seeking treatment, or speaking openly.

An HIV stigma-free Zimbabwe starts with each one of us. Challenge myths. Share accurate information. Choose compassion over judgment. Together, we can create communities where everyone feels safe to know their status, access care, and live with dignity.

The fight against HIV isn’t just about medicine—it’s about changing mindsets.
