I hope you are all doing well.

Our good friend, the Life Offices of Zimbabwe, have once again extended an invitation for student contributions to their upcoming magazine publication. This is a great opportunity to showcase your knowledge, insights and perspectives within the actuarial field.

We therefore encourage all interested members to submit articles on relevant actuarial topics, industry trends, academic insights or any innovative ideas you would like to share with a wider professional audience.

Kindly submit your contributions by 23rd of April 2026, and ensure that your work is original and well-structured.

*Announcing Our Distinguished Guest of Honour*

The University of Zimbabwe Actuarial Society is profoundly honoured to announce that the distinguished Mr. Livingstone Magorimbo will serve as the Guest of Honour at our landmark 5th Anniversary Dinner.

Mr. Magorimbo is a pivotal figure in the regional financial sector, currently serving as the President-Elect of the Actuarial Society of Zimbabwe (ASZ) and the Group Chief Actuary for First Mutual Holdings Limited, a leading financial services group with operations across Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique and Malawi.

His distinguished career spans several African markets (including Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Ghana) for top-tier groups like Zimnat, Old Mutual and Momentum Metropolitan Group. Before joining First Mutual Holdings he previously served as the CEO of Tangerine Life Insurance (previously Metropolitan Life Insurance) in Nigeria. He is a qualified actuary and a Fellow member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA).

Beyond his executive leadership, Mr. Magorimbo is deeply committed to shaping the future of the profession. He has a deep passion for enhancing actuarial education and developing the next generation of actuaries, alongside his work promoting financial inclusion leveraging technology in developing markets.

This dinner will be a crucial opportunity for current and aspiring professionals to network, celebrate our milestone and gain invaluable perspectives from a true industry trailblazer on the future direction of actuarial within Zimbabwe and beyond.
