We met Gogo Silver Siziba (76) at Lushongwe Clinic in rural Gwanda during a screening outreach. We conducted a session on health education and she was the most active participant - asking a lot of questions on TB and how it is treated.

Our team recently collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and Zimbabwe Health Interventions - ZHI at Mambava Shopping Centre in Shurugwi District to deploy a newly customized electronic screening and patient management system, during a community screening outreach.
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:Moving away from traditional paper-based processes, this system enables real-time electronic data capture, seamless synchronization, and end-to-end patient tracking across the entire continuum of care—from enrollment and screening to diagnosis, referral, and discharge.
By tracking clients in real time as they navigate each hashtag screening station, we are eliminating delays, cutting inefficiencies, and ensuring no patient falls through the cracks.

Great turnouts make for great impacts! 🌟

Last week, our team joined forces with the Ministry of Health and Child Care through the National TB Control Programme to conduct community TB screenings at Lushongwe Clinic in Gwanda District. We were thrilled to see such a strong turnout from both men and women in the community!

Through the FC-SDS project, we aren't just screening for TB—we’re taking a holistic approach to community health. Clients received integrated screenings covering:
🔹 TB & HIV
🔹 Silicosis
🔹 Malnutrition
🔹 Mental health, alcohol, and to***co use risk factors

To top it off, our team delivered engaging health education sessions in the local language, making sure everyone left with vital facts about TB, Silicosis, and the care services available.

It was great to partner with Proton Bakers in the mobilisation of communities in for free screening at Marondera Provincial Hospital. They do not only bake, they are giving back to the community and playing an important role in agenda!

Last week, our colleagues Stee Khanda Ronald Ncube Nqobille Ngwalo Mlilo conducted technical compliance visits for Zimbabwe Health Interventions - ZHI and FACT Zimbabwe in Midlands and Mashonaland Central. Motivating to see that under the FC-SDS Project, ZHI is supporting Community Health Workers with bicycles to improve mobility during screening and home visits (contact tracing, treatment support).
At Silobela District Hospital in Kwekwe, they met Sister Marisa Letwin, (Sister-in-Charge) and Promise Sibanda, a Village Health Worker who were all smiles as they appreciated the project

The Minister of Health and Child Care, Hon. Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, today officially launched the National Health Strategy 2026–2030. With this strategy, the Ministry aims to:

1. Reduce morbidity and mortality due to communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as mental health conditions.

2. Improve reproductive, maternal, newborn, adolescent and child health and nutrition, with specific targets to reduce the maternal mortality ratio, lower perinatal mortality and increase modern contraceptive prevalence.

3. Increase the availability of medicines and health commodities to ensure that no patient goes without the treatment they need.

4. Increase domestic funding for health to at least 15 percent of total government expenditure and reduce out-of-pocket payments,.

5. Expand the health workforce by creating 32,000 new posts by 2030 to raise the density of health workers towards the recommended standard.

6. Improve infrastructure and equipment, ensuring that every district has a fully equipped hospital and that all health facilities have reliable water and power.

7.Increase digital health coverage by connecting all health facilities to the internet and integrating health information systems.

8. Enhance access to healthcare services, including both primary and specialist care, by expanding health infrastructure and strengthening referral systems.

9.Improve the governance of the sector by strengthening leadership, accountability, and coordination across all levels. This will be achieved by rolling out the Accountability Framework already underway in the public sector, which allocates roles and responsibilities, establishes key performance indicators, implements a performance monitoring system and introduces a rewards and consequences schedule.
