Last year, we hosted the “Know Your Constitution” program in Chitungwiza Unit D. It was a day filled with learning and creativity for our young leaders.

Students explored the Constitution, focusing on Chapter 4, Basic Human Rights. They learned about their rights and how to stand up for them through drawing, drama, and discussions.

📢 Let’s Talk About Employment Contracts in Zimbabwe: Know Your Rights

Employment contracts are vital legal agreements that outline your rights and obligations in the workplace. The Labour Act [Chapter 28:01] defines three types of contracts: Permanent, Fixed-Term, and Casual. Each has specific features, including benefits and termination conditions, emphasizing the need for clarity.

Did you know that the Labour Act mandates employers to provide written details like remuneration and leave entitlements? This protects employees from unfair treatment. While oral contracts can be valid, having written agreements usually strengthens your position in disputes.

The Constitution guarantees rights to fair labor practices and safe working conditions, making it essential for contracts to align with these rights.

Understanding employment contracts is crucial for both employees and employers.

Today, the world commemorates the International Day of Education under the theme “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education.” This day reinforces that education is a right for every child, not a privilege. Education can change family futures and push society, nations, and the world forward.

It is vital to provide inclusive and fair opportunities for all children, ensuring everyone has access to quality education.

We recently attended the Young Feminist School organized by The Pada Platform, where we explored the foundations of feminism within the African context. Our journey included learning about the core values of feminism, leadership, feminist consciousness, and the significance of power and digital activism.

A highlight of the program was a presentation by our director, Bridgetti Mambondiani. She provided invaluable insights on advocacy tools and strategies, equipping us with the knowledge needed to effectively advocate for rights.

A key takeaway from our experience was that feminism is not solely for women; it advocates for equal opportunities for all and promotes inclusivity and justice, regardless of gender.
