Last week, the Topodzi Foundation SRHR Club in partnership with Connecther engaged learners at 2 local schools in an open discussion on dating among adolescents a topic that has become increasingly common in our schools.

During these sessions learners shared some of the reasons why many young people begin dating at an early age. These included receiving snacks at school, money and free transport from older men or boys. These realities place many adolescents especially girls at greater risk of teenage pregnancy, school dropout and sti's that can affect their future.

We discussed the importance of making informed decisions understanding the risks of early relationships, building self-esteem and staying focused on education and personal goals. The learners actively participated asked thoughtful questions and showed a genuine eagerness to learn.

The same concerns were raised at both schools, highlighting the urgent need for continued Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education in our communities and schools .

Let's empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to make safe, healthy and informed choices.

Today, Topodzi Foundation had the privilege of engaging with students at a local school as we officially introduced our Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Club.
Our goal is to empower young people with accurate information, life skills, and confidence to make informed decisions about issues that affect their health, wellbeing and future.
During the session, we had meaningful discussions on menstrual hygiene management, breaking myths and stigma while promoting dignity, self-care and access to essential information. We were encouraged by the students' active participation and eagerness to learn.
At Topodzi Foundation, we believe that informed adolescents are empowered adolescents. Together, we are creating safe spaces where young people can learn, grow and thrive.

Topodzi Foundation Trust team had the opportunity to attend the screening of TRAPPED, a powerful film that sheds light on the realities and consequences of child marriage.

As we watched the story unfold, it brought back painful memories for our Founder, who was married off at the age of 15. The film reflected many of the challenges, fears and lost opportunities that countless girls continue to face today. It served as a powerful reminder of why our work to end child marriage and empower girls remains so important.

TRAPPED is more than just a movie ,it is a call to action for communities, leaders, parents and policymakers to protect girls' rights and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and pursue their dreams free from harmful practices.

We commend the producers, cast and crew for using storytelling to amplify the voices of survivors and spark critical conversations around child marriage and gender inequality.

At Topodzi Foundation Trust, we remain committed to creating a future where every girl is safe, educated, empowered and free to determine her own destiny.
