Yesterday, NKomwa Foundation Trust (NFT), in partnership with the South Western Region Gender Network (SWRGN), conducted a Disability Dialogue Forum at Tshongwe Community Hall (Ward 11) aimed at promoting disability inclusion, disability rights awareness, and meaningful community participation for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The meeting brought together 39 participants, including caregivers, traditional leaders, community leaders, and 21 Persons with Disabilities, creating an important platform for dialogue on equality, dignity, non-discrimination, accessibility, and access to services for PWDs.

Among the key achievements recorded was the appointment of one male Person with Disability as Ward Secretary, strengthening disability representation at community level. In addition, nine Persons with Disabilities were successfully integrated into community development and support programmes, marking a significant step toward inclusive participation.

Participants also highlighted key challenges affecting Persons with Disabilities, including stigma and discrimination, exclusion from social protection programmes, limited employment opportunities, and accessibility barriers.

The dialogue emphasized the need for stronger community engagement, continuous awareness campaigns, and inclusive development initiatives to ensure that no one is left behind.

Nkomwa Foundation Trust remains committed to advancing disability rights, promoting inclusion, and ensuring equal participation of Persons with Disabilities in community development processes.
