*Happy Father’s Day - A Letter to Our Fathers at Xtreme Trans Foundation*
Yesterday the world says “Happy Father’s Day” to men who share their name and blood. But at Xtreme Trans Orphanage, we get to celebrate something even bigger: men who chose to be fathers.
To every man who has walked through our gates and treated our children like his own - thank you.
Thank you for the school fees, paid, exam fees paid, days you arrived with bags of mealie-meal and left with sticky hugs from little hands. Thank you for the nights you stayed late fixing a broken pipe, repairing a roof, or sitting under the tree listening to a child tell you about their day at school. You didn’t have to. But you did.
Fatherhood is more than providing. It’s showing up. It’s teaching a boy how to tie his shoes and telling a girl she is beautiful and smart. It’s paying school fees when the term bill feels impossible. It’s standing in the parent’s line at speech and prize giving even though your name isn’t on the birth certificate. It’s being “Baba” to children who thought that word was lost to them.
Because of you, our children sleep with full stomachs. Because of you, they wear uniforms with pride. Because of you, they dare to dream about being doctors, teachers, engineers, and leaders. You gave them more than donations. You gave them dignity, safety, and hope. You proved that family is not just who you’re born to, but who chooses to stay.
The Bible says, “Pure and undefiled religion is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress” James 1:27. You live that verse. You are the answer to many prayers whispered at bedtime. The children may not always have the words, but we see it in how their eyes light up when they hear your car, in how they run to show you their report cards, in how they now introduce you: “This is my Baba.”
So today we honor you. Not just for what you give, but for who you are. Men of compassion. Men of integrity. Men who understand that raising one child lifts a whole community. Your legacy is written in the lives of every child at Xtreme Trans Foundation who now believes they matter.
May God bless the work of your hands. May He protect your own families and fill your homes with the same joy you bring here. May He return to you pressed down, shaken together, and running over - because that is the measure you’ve used for these children.
Happy Father’s Day, our heroes. Our providers. Our dads.
We love you, we appreciate you, and we will never forget you.
