GWEN extends its heartfelt appreciation to the District Development Coordinator (DDC) and all stakeholders of Chitungwiza District for your invaluable partnership, collaboration, and support during the World Café held at St Mary's.

Your commitment to bringing community health services closer to young women helped create a space where participants could access information, engage with service providers, and connect with essential health and rights support.

We are grateful to all the stakeholders who contributed to this initiative. Your collaboration strengthens our collective efforts to improve access to quality, youth-friendly services and create safe spaces for young women.

Bringing Youth-Friendly Services Closer to Young Women in St Mary's :

Access to accurate health information and quality youth-friendly services is essential in empowering young women to make informed decisions about their health, rights, and futures. Yet, for many young women, accessing these services can be challenging when they are not readily available within their communities.

Yesterday, GWEN took the World Café to St Mary's, bringing essential services and information directly to the St Mary's grounds, where young women could engage with service providers in a safe and accessible space.

The initiative brought together key stakeholders, including Youth Advocates, Zimbabwe Gender Commission, Population Solutions for Health, Population Services Zimbabwe, National AIDS Council of Zimbabwe, Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Dev., Department of Social Development, Zimbabwe Republic Police - ZRP's Victim Friendly Unit, Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association, and
Pangaea Zimbabwe AIDS Trust

Through this collaborative platform, young women had the opportunity to access health information, engage with service providers, and learn about services and support available to them. Bringing these services closer to communities helps strengthen access to and utilization of quality youth-friendly SRHR services while creating opportunities for young women to ask questions, seek support, and make informed choices.

At GWEN, we believe that creating safe spaces also means bringing services closer to the young women who need them. 💜

Creating safe and inclusive communities means ensuring that everyone can communicate, access information, participate and have their rights respected.

On this International Day of Sign Languages, we recognise the importance of sign language in creating meaningful participation for Deaf people and promoting their dignity, agency and inclusion.

Let’s continue building communities where every voice matters, in every language and every form of communication.
