The Matabeleland Agribusiness Chamber (MABC) evolved from the Livestock Financing Symposium held in Bulawayo in September 2011. The symposium was organized and facilitated by the Agricultural Finance Working Group (AFWG), a task force of the agribusiness units of commercial banks with funding and support from Zim-ACP. The symposium in turn established the Matabeleland Livestock Taskforce to spearhead implementation of the symposium recommendations. One of the recommendations was to bring together all livestock value chain players into a platform to discuss and come up with concrete action plans to address challenges facing the livestock sector, particularly beef cattle in the two Matabeleland Provinces.
