As Africa commemorates the Day of the African Child 2026, children in Tsholotsho are calling for safer, more peaceful, and more supportive school environments. Through ECLF-facilitated child protection, safeguarding, and peace education workshops, learners shared both the challenges they face and the positive experiences that help them thrive. Their voices remind us that building peaceful schools begins with listening to children and responding to their needs. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/as-africa-commemorates-the-day-of-the-african-ugcPost-7472581873957801984-svO7/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAEWwT9IBkziCarkGe2gmrZ4qC9jnVaiLCK4

Where conflict once divided communities, we have witnessed the power of dialogue, healing, and transformation.
Through intentional peacebuilding efforts, community dialogues, and the strengthening of local peace infrastructures, we have helped build bridges where walls once stood. Click the link below to watch how others have been transformed through our interventions.

What began as dialogue on peacebuilding has grown into practical action through a community garden that addresses idleness, food insecurity, and strengthens livelihoods.
Through a peace education initiative supported by ECLF, Act Svenska kyrkan, and the community itself. The Mbalibabali ward 17, community members were brought together to build a more peaceful society. The initiative has created a space where youth, women, and the elderly actively participate in gardening while gaining skills in farming, cooperation, and peacebuilding. It has also improved access to water, benefiting both the garden and nearby households with a safer and more reliable source. As a result, the project has restored hope, strengthened families, promoted unity, and enhanced peaceful coexistence within hashtag

We were honored to host a visit from the Church of Sweden Act Svenska kyrkan delegation on 17 April 2026, including Lennart Hernander (Director of the Regional Hub), Obed Mugisha, MBA (Program Officer), and Jacqueline Enerot (Regional Representative for Zimbabwe).
What stood out most was not just the meeting but the meaningful conversations, the shared reflections, and the genuine interest in the work happening within communities. We are deeply grateful for the partnership we share with you. It is through such collaboration, trust, and mutual learning that we continue to strengthen our efforts toward building peaceful, resilient, and inclusive communities.

A heartfelt thank you to Mennonite Central Committee - MCC for the effort of visiting our offices. Your presence and engagement mean a lot to us.

We strongly believe that some of the most profound moments happen when people are given the space to open up and engage, often for the very first time. This visit was no exception. It reminds us that peace work is not just about programs, but about people, relationships, and the courage to speak and listen.

The exchange was both enriching and encouraging, reaffirming our shared commitment to walking alongside communities as they work towards healing, justice, and sustainable peace.
We look forward to continuing this journey together, strengthening partnerships that amplify voices, build trust, and transform lives.

There is something powerful about seeing young people take the lessons of child protection, safeguarding, and peacebuilding and turn them into action.

The Bulawayo Peace Club continues to inspire us. What started as a platform for learning about peace, protection, and safe communities is now blossoming into a youth-led movement across schools in Bulawayo.

These young peace champions are not just talking about peace — they are organising, leading, and sustaining peace within their schools and communities. From planning peace outreach in primary schools to organising peace marches and collaborative activities, the passion and leadership from these students is truly inspiring.

As partners and mentors, we are proud to see them grow, collaborate with other organisations, and confidently carry forward the message of peace.

And now they are taking it a step further.

Introducing our first BYO Peace Mic Challenge 🕊️

Students across Bulawayo are invited to share a 'poem or short speech'' inspired by the theme:

“My Body, My Peace.”

This challenge creates a platform for young voices to speak about Respect, Safety, Dignity, and Peace in our schools.

Because peace begins when we speak.

💡 We invite partners, schools, parents, and well-wishers to support this growing youth movement by:

• Supporting peace outreach programs in schools
• Providing materials such as **peace club T-shirts, banners, and merchandise
• Partnering in peace education and safeguarding initiatives
• Sponsoring youth peace events and platforms like the Peace Mic Challenge

When we support young people who believe in peace, we are investing in a safer and more compassionate future for our communities.

Let’s continue to nurture these peacebuilders and help their voices be heard.
