As Africa commemorates Africa Day under the theme, “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems,” Habakkuk Trust reiterates that access to clean water and dignified sanitation is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for sustainable development.
Women and girls across communities continue to bear the greatest burden of water insecurity and poor sanitation, making inclusive water governance and meaningful citizen participation critical in shaping responsive and accountable service delivery systems.

An Africa that guarantees safe water and sanitation for all is an Africa that is healthier, more equal and more resilient.

Habakkuk Trust participated in a dam tour organised by BPRA alongside fellow CSOs and media, visiting Upper Ncema, Umzingwane and Fernhill Pump Station.

The tour led by Engineer Gwetu of The City of Bulawayo exposed serious threats to our water sources, particularly from artisanal mining and pollution within catchment areas.

Protecting our dams requires collective action, stronger regulation, community awareness and sustainable environmental practices.
