Nkosilathi Ndebele, affectionately known as Nkosi, a member and board member of the Zimbabwe Down Syndrome Association (ZDSA) was born in 1994 in Bulawayo with an intellectual condition known as cerebral palsy (CP).

Many people thought with the CP condition one cannot learn, Nkosi’s family dismissed that and enrolled him at King George VI School in Bulawayo where he did his education, paving a way for his critical thinking and poetic skills.

Defying misconceptions and odds of CP, and showcasing his poetic prowess nurtured in school, Nkosi wrote his first poetry book in 2021 titled ‘The Psalm of my Soul,’ with an array of unique poems.

Additionally, Nkosilathi holds a certificate in computers from Jairos Jiri Vocational Training Centre (JJVTC) and is a trained detergent maker, proving that disability is not inability.

Currently, Nkosi is pursuing a course in sign language at (JJVTC) and managing his vending business.

Cerebral Palsy affects the body muscles, but support and education gives limitless possibilities.

In an era of discrimination and stereotype a youth with Down syndrome Anele Brandon Nyoni aged twenty five has managed to break the odds.

He undertook an entrepreneurship training course with Empretec Zimbabwe and attained a certificate in entrepreneurship. He was given the initial startup capital by Empretec to start his business.

As a talented youth with Down syndrome, he is appealing for well- wishers to support his dream to come true by helping him build a tuck-shop and expand his business at his residential place Luveve.
