At YLF we believe the problem of Africa lies with LEADERSHIP! It is strong leadership of Africa that can ensure resources are used for human development. It is visionary leadership that can transform community energy to development innovation. It is democratic leadership that can manage conflicts and shun wars. It is responsible leadership that can ensure equitable distribution of wealth and resources. It is sound leadership that can inspire Africans to be active architects of their own development and be equal players in the theatre of development. Africa has the largest youth population of the world and these young people have the innovative ability, the inner drive, the desire and the potential to be changemakers in their societies. YLF therefore has a vision of a youth led social, economic and political democratic transformation of African societies, communities and institutions. To achieve this vision YLF nurtures, empowers, inspires and supports young African leaders to transform their communities through democratic and human rights based approaches. We believe young people are the seed and for the seed to germinate it needs to be planted, watered, fertilized and nurtured - and YLF provides the services that enables young people of Africa to germinate and thrive in their leadership.
