Support Green Institute’s Fundraising Campaign!
Green Institute a youth-led organization based in Chipinge, Manicaland Province, is calling on supporters to help rebuild its Community Agriculture Hub which was destroyed by Cyclone Gezani- through a fundraising campaign hosted by the New Africa Fund. The campaign runs for 30 days, from 1–30 March 2026, with up to $5,000 USD in matching funds available, doubling the impact of every donation.
Heavy rains triggered by Cyclone Gezani, which struck Mozambique’s Inhambane coast, caused severe destruction in Chipinge, flattening maize fields and putting harvests and rural families at risk. The Community Agriculture Hub, including its 500m² greenhouse and solar water system, was destroyed. This garden supports 85 members, mostly women, and provides 83 households with safe, clean water, making it essential for livelihoods and community resilience.
Before the storm, the greenhouse was transforming lives. Women were planting tomatoes, hoping to sell them at the market to pay school fees for their children. The destruction threatens this progress but together, we can help restore it.
Every dollar donated will be matched by the New Africa Fund, doubling the impact of your generosity. Your support will help rebuild the hub and continue empowering marginalized groups, including women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities, through climate-resilient strategies and sustainable livelihoods.
