Last Friday 5th June, the world commemorated World Environment Day under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” As part of the commemoration, Care For Nature Zambia hosted a training at Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation; where we were in attendance.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and children by deepening their understanding of children’s rights, particularly their right to a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment in the context of climate change. It also focused on government obligations to protect children from environmental harm and climate related impacts, as well as the procedures CSOs and children can use to report and monitor commitments made toward upholding children’s rights.
Visions Zambia Initiative was delighted to have been among the CSOs that participated in the training. The session was highly informative and insightful, emphasizing the importance of ensuring children’s participation in social, environmental, and governance issues.
