Empower Her Statement on Child Protection
Empower Her is deeply concerned by the reported case involving three missing girls from Luanshya who were later found in Lusaka under unclear circumstances. We commend the Zambia Police Service, Advocacy for Child Justice (ACJ), and everyone whose swift action contributed to the children's safe recovery.
This incident is a reminder that child protection is a shared responsibility. Parents, guardians, schools, communities, and government institutions all have a role to play in safeguarding children from exploitation, trafficking, and all forms of abuse.
As an organization committed to empowering girls and promoting their safety and well-being, we encourage parents and caregivers to have regular conversations with children about personal safety, online risks, and the importance of speaking up when they feel unsafe. We also urge communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving children without delay.
Every child deserves to grow up in a safe and protective environment. Let us work together to ensure that no child becomes a victim of exploitation.
Protect every child. Stay vigilant. Speak up. Report.
