Mumbwa Child Development Agency (MCDA) yesterday had the privilege of visiting Chief Mumba in Mumbwa District. The primary goal of this important engagement was to partner with traditional leadership in a collaborative, community-led effort to reduce child marriage and gender-based violence (GBV) through the Lusumpuko Women and Girls Project. During the visit, MCDA sought Chief Mumba’s leadership in championing these critical efforts within his chiefdom.
By working closely with local leadership, MCDA aims to drive positive change and ensure lasting development in the community by addressing key issues such as gender-based violence, teen pregnancy, child marriage, and harmful social norms. By promoting inclusive education for all especially adolescent girls and leveraging the influence of community leaders.
Chief Mumba expressed strong support for these initiatives, emphasising his passion for education, particularly for girls. He made it clear that child marriage is not tolerated in his chiefdom and assured that any such reported cases are dealt with decisively.
Together, we can create safer, more supportive communities for all children. & Girls Funds
