Restoring Vision, Restoring Hope, Restoring Confidence

In our continued efforts to enhance community health and wellbeing, ALEJO Community Support Project (ALEJO CSP) conducted a reading glasses distribution exercise targeting individuals experiencing reading difficulties across the Copperbelt Province.

The initiative aimed at restoring vision, hope, and confidence among beneficiaries, while also integrating Immunization Demand Creation, to promote increased uptake of routine immunizations for children under five.

In addition, the activity included sessions on Smart Agriculture, Village Chicken Management, and Nutrition Promotion empowering community members with knowledge to improve food security, household income, and overall health outcomes.

This multifaceted outreach was successfully implemented with the support of the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ), the Ministry of Health (MOH), and other strategic partners, including members of the clergy, who continue to play a pivotal role in community mobilization and health promotion.

Together, we remain committed to building healthier, more resilient, and self sustaining communities.

Traditional Leaders Join the Fight Against Malaria in Northwestern Province

In the fight against malaria, ALEJO Community Support Project (ALEJO-CSP), in partnership with the Ministry of Health and CHAZ, is engaging traditional leaders to strengthen social and behavioural change at community level.

Traditional leaders are helping spread key messages on consistent use of mosquito nets, early testing, and now the new malaria vaccine for children under five, which adds an extra layer of protection for young lives.

Their leadership and influence are helping communities embrace positive health practices and work together towards a malaria-free Zambia.

Strengthening Communities for Improved Child Immunization Services

In its ongoing quest to increase child immunization coverage, ALEJO Community Support Project (ALEJO-CSP), in partnership with the Churches Health Association of Zambia (CHAZ) and the Ministry of Health, recently conducted Community Champion Meetings across Kitwe, Mufulira, and Ndola.

The meetings brought together local leaders, faith-based representatives, community health workers, and parent champions to deliberate on practical ways of increasing demand and access to immunization services. By fostering dialogue and ownership at the community level, the initiative aims to break barriers such as myths, misinformation, and limited awareness that often hinder full immunization for children under two years.

Speaking during the engagements, participants emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring that no child is left behind. Community champions pledged their support to strengthen awareness campaigns, mobilize caregivers, and work hand in hand with health facilities to improve uptake of vaccines.

This initiative reaffirms ALEJO-CSP’s commitment to advancing child health and well-being by complementing government efforts and supporting national strategies for universal immunization coverage. Through these partnerships and community-driven approaches, ALEJO-CSP, CHAZ, and the Ministry of Health continue to pave the way towards a healthier future for Zambia’s children.
