Scaling Up Maternal Healthcare Excellence.

Currently underway! We are supporting an intensive 10-day training on Long-Acting Reversible Contraception bringing together frontline health professionals to strengthen access to quality, positive maternal health outcomes.

This dedicated cohort includes midwives from 78 facilities across Eastern Province (earmarked for scaling up point of care ultrasound use as part of antenatal care), Midwifery-led Models of Care Centers of Excellence in Lusaka, Western and the Copperbelt, the upcoming Level 1 Hospital in Kabwe (Supported by Bayer Seed Plant) and the United Nations in Zambia Clinic in Lusaka.

“Our midwives - Because women trust you during pregnancy and childbirth, you are uniquely positioned to be the key drivers of increased LARC uptake. By empowering a woman to plan her future, we are strengthening the economic foundation of the entire nation.” Anna Holmstrom UNFPA Zambia Deputy Representative

Supported through the UNFPA Supplies Partnership, this collaboration between government Ministry of Health Zambia and the private sector - BADEA - Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and Bayer can accelerate progress.

What happens when you bridge the gap between faith and science to tackle a nation's toughest social challenges such as ?

In Zambia, UNFPA Zambia is partnering with diverse faith leaders to drive real, lasting community progress. By meeting people where their trust already lies.

Here is a snapshot of how these UNFPA-supported initiatives are making an impact:

Collaboration: Uniting religious leaders from diverse backgrounds to deliver consistent, unified messages on community well-being.

: Equipping clergy with "model sermons" to advocate for children's rights, backed by a massive network supporting 98 schools and 72 health centers.

: Training faith leaders to provide safe, confidential counseling and health referrals for young people.

: Launching a 13-part radio series to integrate scientific public health perspectives into community faith dialogues.

: Promoting women’s meaningful participation in leadership and advocating for peace during electoral processes.

When faith, science, and human rights align, sustainable progress follows.
