Cheshire Homes Kabulonga has residential capacity of about 50 children in the age range of five (5) onwards and receive physiotherapy at the center. The center is affiliated to the Leonard Cheshire Disability. Common conditions found in the home are: Cerebral palsy, Talipes, Post Polio Paralysis, Amputation, Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Muscular Dystrophy. The center admits children from the age of
five onwards and receive physiotherapy at the center. The center is affiliated to the Leonard Cheshire International. The center provides the following services: Early Detection, Physiotherapy, Corrective Surgery in conjunction with the Zambia Italian Orthopedic Hospital, Pastoral Care and counseling, Orthopedic Services and Outreach Facilities. When children are brought, they are assessed by physiotherapists and doctors and then recommend for surgery. Teachers also help in the assessment of the child’s level of understanding and education in general. Whilst at the Cheshire Homes, children attend the residential school, which follow the standard primary school curriculum. We have pre-grades to grade seven (7)
The Home has even a twining programmed, in this programme pupils from International School come to teach pupils at Cheshire Homes. This is done every Thursday afternoon. The Kabulonga Cheshire Homes solicit for funds to run the Home through assistance from local business community, different organizations and private donors. The Home is a boarding school; boys and girls have separate dormitories. VISION OF THE HOME:
To create a society that supports and participates in the affairs of children with physical Disabilities by providing Individualistic approach towards attaining improved quality of life. The main service objective is to provide medical Rehabilitation to about 200 children with Physical Disabilities per year. We endeavor to provide a quality rehabilitation service in partnership with government, the community and individual families. MISSION STATEMENT:
