A Continental Milestone Worth Celebrating!

I am deeply honoured and grateful to share that I have been officially shortlisted for the Summit Country Coordinator role for the Young African Leaders Summit (YALS) 2027.
Being recognised from a highly competitive pool of applicants across Africa and beyond is both humbling and inspiring. This milestone is more than a personal achievement—it is a reflection of the power of purpose, consistency, and a relentless commitment to youth leadership, healthcare transformation, and sustainable development.

As an upcoming Medical Doctor, Global Health Researcher, and Founder of the Chembe District Youth Platform Luapula Initiative Organisation, I have always believed that leadership is about creating opportunities, empowering communities, and building solutions that outlive us. This recognition strengthens my resolve to continue advancing the aspirations of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union Agenda 2063, ensuring that young people are not merely participants in Africa's future but architects of it.

The next stage includes a written assessment and a video pitch, and I embrace this challenge with confidence, determination, and a desire to represent Zambia with excellence on the continental stage.

I extend my sincere gratitude to every mentor, colleague, friend, and supporter who has believed in my journey. Your encouragement continues to fuel my passion for impact.

This is only the beginning. Together, we will continue building a healthier, more empowered, and prosperous Africa—one opportunity, one community, and one generation at a time.

We are pleased to inform you that the New Leaders Lab call for applications is now open.

As a part of the Africa-Europe Youth Academy project, the New Leaders Lab is a leadership programme designed for young men and women aged 18 to 30 years, living in one of the 19 countries covered by the programme.

This call for application is open to young people who:

·Are aged 18 to 30 ;

·Reside in one of the programme’s 19 countries of intervention: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guinée, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Republic Democratic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia;

·Have a good command of French, English or Portuguese;

·Have a project idea focused on having a social, environmental or entrepreneurial impact;

·Are actively engaged in their community or motivated to drive a positive change

Become a Leader with the New Leaders Lab

Funded by the European Union, the Africa-Europe Youth Academy (AEYA) launches its first New Leaders Lab cohort.

We are happy to announce that, as of 15 June 2025, applications to the New Leaders Lab are open to young people aged 18 to 30 residing in Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, and Zambia.

The New Leaders Lab is a unique and free opportunity designed for you!

What is the New Leaders Lab?

The New Leaders Lab (NLL) is a leadership programme with an entrepreneurial, civic, and community focus. It combines thematic learning modules, practical workshops, personalized support, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. It is expected to last between 3 to 4 months.

Who is the New Leaders Lab for?
The New Leaders Lab (NLL) is open to all young people aged between 18 to 30 years old, men and women, from all walks of life and educational backgrounds, with a concrete project idea.

Whether you are a student, a young professional, a formal or informal entrepreneur, or currently seeking employment, the New Leaders Lab is for you.

The programme strongly encourages applications from women and young people from diverse backgrounds, including persons with disabilities, those living in different environments, individuals with unique life experiences, and those who may require specific support during the training programme. All levels of education are welcome (primary, secondary, university, etc.).

What are the eligibility criteria?

You can apply to the New Leaders Lab if:

1. You are between 18 and 30;
2. You reside in one of the 19 eligible countries;
3. You have a basic knowledge of French, English, or Portuguese;
4. You are involved in community, civic, associative, or entrepreneurial initiatives, or would like to become more engaged in your community.

We are proud to announce that our organization has been specially selected to participate in an exclusive training programme by Social Enterprise Zambia (SEZ). This opportunity reflects the hard work, commitment, and impact that young people in Chembe District continue to make in community development, youth empowerment, and social innovation.

The programme is designed to strengthen leadership, entrepreneurship, and sustainable impact creation among youth-led organizations. With only a limited number of participants selected, we are honored to represent Chembe District on this important platform.

This training will provide valuable knowledge, networking opportunities, and practical skills that will help us grow our initiatives and continue creating positive change in our communities. As a youth platform, we remain committed to empowering young people through advocacy, innovation, climate action, education, and community engagement.
