(b) to supply resources to meet the physical needs and improve the

conditions of juveniles in custody;

(c) to connect juveniles in conflict with the law with organizations and institutions which can provide the juveniles with services, after-care, and educational and vocational opportunities;

(d) to research and gather data and information concerning vulnerable juveniles; and

(e) to make recommendations, develop and carry out projects, and build partnerships with private and government bodies to improve the access of juveniles to legal and social services.

UP Zambia and Save the Children at the LAZ Annual General Meeting

UP Zambia and Save the Children International are in Livingstone! As part of the Joint Anti-Trafficking in Persons (JTIP) Program, a joint initiative of the United States and Zambian governments, we have set up a booth at this year's Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) Law Conference and Annual General Meeting.

With all of Zambia's brightest legal minds gathered under one roof, there's no better place to start important conversations about trafficking in persons (TIP). We're here to share knowledge, spark discussions, and most importantly, encourage advocates to take up cases involving trafficked persons and vulnerable migrants, so that their rights are upheld in the legal system.
So come say hello at our booth in the conference centre! While you're there, take a shot at our super easy quiz 😉 — you might just walk away with some great freebies!

In celebration of Youth Day, a donation was made possible by a generous anonymous donor and facilitated through Undikumbukire Project Zambia. Essential hygiene items including soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes were donated to children in detention at Kamwala Remand Correctional Facility.

This gesture goes beyond meeting basic needs, it is a reminder of dignity, care and hope. We are deeply grateful for partnerships and acts of kindness that continue to show young people that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

This International Women’s Day 2026, we join the global call for Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.
At UP Zambia, we are proud to be a woman-led organization committed to advancing dignity, protection, and equal opportunity in the communities we serve. Women’s rights are human rights. Access to justice strengthens families. Action creates lasting change.
Through this year’s campaign, “Give to Gain,” we are reminded that when we invest in women and girls, when we protect their rights and expand their opportunities our communities and our nation grow stronger.
Happy International Women’s Day.

Over the past two days, the JTIP team visited schools in Kafue and Chongwe to continue raising awareness among young people about human trafficking, drugs, and child protection.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the team engaged learners at Shikoswe Primary School, Nangongwe Secondary School, Matipula Primary School, and Chainda Secondary School.

Students participated actively in discussions on:

* What human trafficking is and the warning signs to look out for
* The risks and consequences of illegal drug use
* How to help someone who may be experiencing trafficking or abuse
* The importance of reporting early marriages, defilement, and other forms of abuse

The team also shared hotlines and reporting channels for trafficking and child abuse so that learners know where to seek help.

This was a follow-up visit, and it was encouraging to hear from head teachers how previous sensitization sessions have already been making a difference among learners. Schools expressed their appreciation and encouraged continued engagement, even suggesting the possibility of student clubs dedicated to spreading awareness and protecting their peers.

We are inspired by the curiosity, courage, and engagement shown by the learners. Together, we continue building safer communities by empowering young people with knowledge.
