Mingalato and Long Distance FRA Selling Depot's

The delay in announcing the FRA maize floor price was not accidental—it was strategic.

The intention appears to have been to announce the price only a few weeks before the elections, forcing farmers to travel long distances to FRA depots, while delaying their payments. In some cases, farmers could even be told that their payment details contain errors, leading to further delays.

The ultimate objective, many believe, is to make it difficult for farmers to participate in the election by effectively disenfranchising them.

It is therefore encouraging that President Brian Mundubile has advised farmers to withhold their maize and only sell it after 13th August, when they can receive K500 per kg instead of the UPND government's K375 per kg for the same quantity.

The decision on when and where to sell their maize ultimately rests with the farmers, who deserve fair prices and timely payment for their hard work.
