Mukinge Mission Hospital recently hosted a radiology team from UTH (University Teaching Hospital) in Lusaka. The team trained doctors, clinical officers, midwives and radiology technicians in POCUS (point of care ultrasound) over the course of one week, focusing on e-fast and obstetric scanning. The Mukinge team had the opportunity to put their new knowledge to use and perform ultrasounds on each other as well as kind volunteers from the obstetrics ward. Thanks to an organization called Vrad and with support from CHSC (Christian Health Service Corps), Mukinge now has 2 brand new butterfly ultrasound probes with tablets to continue expanding on their new skills and providing quality care.

Jessica Winston Chinami is a Physician Assistant who has served at Mukinge Mission Hospital. She had the opportunity to facilitate an Inpatient Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) training at Mukinge in February. Present were 38 doctors, clinical officers and nurses. Jessica is working with local nutritionists to develop a program that would include both inpatient trainings as well as trainings in the 34 rural health facilities in Kasempa district. The rural trainings would help clinicians detect malnutrition earlier and work with caregivers in the field of prevention as well. 🏥🍽️

Reading about the modern persecuted church and thinking about Easter and Jesus’ suffering for us.

“Jesus himself warned his followers that suffering would accompany discipleship. “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” (John 15:18) He continued with a sobering reminder: “A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.” (John 15:20)”
