CSO-SUN is a movement of civil society working towards raising the profile of nutrition on the national development agenda so that every mother and child is assured of sufficient nutrition. It's part of the global Movement founded on the principle that all people have a right to food and good nutrition. It unites people across sectors, including government, the United Nations, donors, private sector, civil society and researchers. The Alliance focuses its attention on the critical 1,000 day window of opportunity from pregnancy until a child’s second birthday, during which time nutrition has the greatest impact on saving lives, developing a child’s cognitive and physical capacity, and mitigating the risk of chronic diseases.

The Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition (CSO-SUN) Alliance proudly participated in the two-day Strengthening Food Systems Through Inclusive Dialogue meeting, which brought together key stakeholders to discuss practical solutions for transforming Zambia's food systems.

The dialogue provided a valuable platform for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and strengthening partnerships aimed at promoting sustainable, resilient, and nutrition-sensitive food systems that leave no one behind.

CSO-SUN remains committed to working with government, civil society, development partners, the private sector, and communities to advocate for policies and actions that improve food security and nutrition for every Zambian.

CSO-SUN Alliance believes that women are key in addressing issues surrounding nutrition and food systems. It is for this reason that CSO-SUN has continued to engage women from four districts of Lusaka province namely, Lusaka, Chongwe, Rufunsa and Kafue.

CSO-SUN Alliance remains committed to continue working with women across the province and the country through its alliance partners.

The Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition CSO-SUN Alliance, today 3rd July, 2026, conducted a community engagement in Chongwe, Kanakantapa, aimed at establishing a Women's Network Group on Nutrition and Food Systems.

The engagement brought together women farmers, communuty health workers, teachers and community members, to discuss the importance of nutrition and sustainable food systems, while creating a platform for them to work together in addressing nutrition-related challenges.

The initiative sought to empower women with knowledge, strengthen collaboration and amplify their voices in promoting healthy diets, sustainable food production and improved household food security.

The Women's Network Group is expected to serve as a community-driven platform for advocacy, learning, knowledge sharing and collective action, enabling women to become champions of better nutrition and resilient food systems within their communities.

Through this engagement, CSO-SUN reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community participation and empowering women to play a leading role in transforming food systems for healthier families and sustainable livelihoods.

Last week, on Friday 26th June, the Civil Society Scaling up NutritionCSO-SUN Alliance was in Rufunsa District for a community engagement with women aimed at creating a women’s network that will provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective action towards transforming food systems.

The engagement brought together women to discuss the importance of working together in addressing challenges affecting food and nutrition, while exploring ways to build a strong and sustainable network that amplifies women’s voices and strengthens their participation in decision-making processes.

Through this initiative, CSO-SUN seeks to support women to connect, share experiences, access opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to building resilient and sustainable food systems within their communities.

Strong women networks are key to empowering women and ensuring that their perspectives and solutions are included in efforts to improve food security and nutrition outcomes.
