Politics of mudslinging , name calling , flimsy accusations and hatred are the ones that make some African countries lag behind and especially Zambia. Politicians must only differ on diversion of policy , mismanagement of resources, abuse of human rights , or on national infrastructure development and under performance on development and governance merits.
Every politician worth their salt as they seek to run the management of this nation and the people of this country must have hinges that attach them to the people , and it’s those hinges when they become loose , you then know that your grip to power through the people needs re assessment and re alignment.
Before you are even criticised by those opposing you , you must be smart to know that the hinges are no longer strong , through your personal introspection and organisational framework that makes sure that the seers of your political management and administration are the monitors that sees danger before it arrives , kind of being the watchdog.
It’s when you have a system that doesn’t just praise you but admonish and rebuke you.
However , opposition and ruling must never be enemies , their enmity turns to incite their members and sympathisers to hate each other politically, philosophically , spiritually, physically, emotionally and all.
It shouldn’t be like that.
Politicians in their quest to develop the nation, in their quest to seek political office and all, they need to foster peace and stability in peace. A peaceful nation but robust in hard work and demand for accountability must be a norm and an encouraged norm by politicians.
But what we see now is politicians exhibiting hate and the hate trickles down to supporters and voters. The result is that voters stop voting based on what the politician has proven that they can do , but on punishing the opposing view or opposition.
Whereby , even when the political giant that could have been given the mandate seemingly not performing , for as long they hate the challenger , they will vote for a non performing politician on negative principle that their enemy doesn’t win an election.
Politicians must be able to compete on policies , just like students compete on intellectual grounds with each other, but the number two will not hate the number one unless they are childish and stupid.the number one will not also hate the number two. Same with soccer competition, The league Leader will not hate the one on second position. Neither the one on second position will hate the league leader , that’s how these politicians must behave like.
If a politician steals , the laws are there to make sure that they are prosecuted and if evidence adduced in a competent court of law is overwhelming , a conviction is the way to go and again that won’t mean that the politician is hated but he misused the trust the people gave him , hence law enforcement agencies that represent the people in courts of law will do on behalf of people deal with such.
Currently, I see many people who hate each other based on political affiliation. When they write their scathing articles against their perceived opponents , you would see the hate in their writings. Even when they drive their points , you will see that , their points is painted with malice and libel.
Why ??????
We need change and start debating policies and all than personalities.
