We commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Month in May in Collaboration with EmpowerHer by implementing a project focused on empowering young adolescent girls who lack access to menstrual hygiene products.

Some girls in rural areas don't know good menstrual hygiene practices simply because they do not have access to the right information. While there is a knowledge gap leaving them susceptible to health risks due to poor menstrual hygiene practices the level of lack of menstrual products is equally high thereby affecting a young girl in so many ways including class attendance, career progression and many other ways.

During this project we informed young girls how to exercise good menstrual hygiene practices and we also taught them the skill of making reusable sanitary pads. This will ensure that the girls have continuous access to menstrual products and any myths that pose a risk to their health is down away with.

It was so delightful to see the willingness of the girls to learn about menstrual hygiene.
This is but one initiative that will change many girls lives out there. Be part of the cause, Be part of the impact.

Menstrual Hygiene is commemorated every year on the 28th of May. This year's Menstrual Hygiene Day was Commemorated under the theme "Period Friendly World"!!

It goes without saying that period poverty is an ongoing challenge faced by many adolescent girls in rural areas and we need to work together to end it by coming up with adaptive solutions.
