Three months of transformative learning came to a close yesterday as ophthalmologists, ophthalmic staff and Orbis Zambia teams gathered for a final in-person Neuroleadership session.

Facilitated by Rev. Walter Mwambazi of Destiny Peak Pro, the programme guided participants through how neuroscience shapes effective leadership, strengthening decision-making, emotional intelligence, resilience and collaboration in high-pressure healthcare environments.

Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) participants explored cognitive biases, built strategies for managing stress and burnout and learned how to foster trust and psychological safety within medical teams. The training also strengthened practical leadership skills in leading change, resolving conflict, improving communication and driving innovation in healthcare.

The final in-person session brought these lessons to life through scenario-based role play turning knowledge into action.
As the programme concludes, Women in Ophthalmology leaders are now better equipped to drive transformation in eye care and improve outcomes for patients across Zambia.

The workshop also created space for collaboration, shared learning, and aligning everyday work with organisational values and impact.

As the workshop came to a close, staff also gathered for a Labour Day event held in recognition of dedication and performance across the organisation.

This past week, Orbis working with the Ministry of Health conducted a Primary Eye Care (PEC) training in Lundazi, equipping healthcare workers and community health volunteers with essential skills to identify and manage basic eye conditions.
The program continues in Petauke this week, with upcoming trainings in Mambwe, Katete and Chipata.

Happy Mother’s Day from Orbis Zambia 💙
Today, we celebrate the strength, love and care of mothers everywhere.
At Orbis Zambia, we honour mothers not only for their endless devotion but also for the vital role they play in protecting the health and vision of their families. When a mother can see clearly, she can care, provide and empower those around her.
Let’s continue working together to ensure every mother has access to quality eye care because when she thrives, the whole family shines.
🌸 Happy Mother’s Day🌸
