Memo from the Chair of the ECSSSA Board of Trustees.
Re: Notice of elections to the NEC.
Dear Alumni family,
I hope we are all doing well.
This month marks three years after the last NEC elections were held in May 2022.
Under the ECSSSA Constitution, the tenure of office of elected officials shall be three years. The Constitution requires that elections must be held every three years and assigns responsibility to the Board of Trustees to conduct elections.
The electoral process under which the current NEC was elected started on 3 May 2022 and ended on 8 May 2022.
In keeping with the previous elections schedule, notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees will organise elections for the NEC with nominations beginning tomorrow 3 May and elections on 8 May 2025.
The details and process of the elections, including nominations, voting, and who to send nominations and votes are stipulated in ECSSSA’s Electoral Rules and Regulations.
Dr Remmy Mukonka, the Deputy Board Chair will chair the ECSSSA Electoral Commission. Please direct any inquiries to him.
Elder Vista Mudenda will serve as the Nominations Officer. Mr Reuben Kajokoto, Board Secretary will serve as the Returning Officer. Their contact details are in the elections regulations below.
The details of the electoral process, dates, and elective positions are set out in the ECCSA Electoral Rules and Regulations as follows (please take time to read them):
ECSSSA ELECTORAL REGULATIONS/RULES (2025)
These Electoral Regulations/Rules shall be applied for the ECSSSA elections in conformity with the Article 10.0 of the Constitution of the Association of 2017.
1.0 Nominations for all elective positions shall open on Saturday, 3rd May 2025 and close at 17:00 hours Sunday, 4th May 2025.
2.0 Nominations will be received by Mr Visita Mudenda, a member of the Board of Trustees, now performing the functions of Nominations Officer of Electoral Commission, via his WhatsApp number +260 97444 9830.
3.0 After nominations are compiled and validated, the names of members contesting various positions will be made public by Mr Mudenda on Monday, 5th May 2025.
4.0 Campaigns will open immediately after announcing the successful names of contestants and will close at 18:00 hours on, 7th May 2025.
5.0 Voting will take place on Thursday, 8th May 2025 from 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours.
6.0 Voting will be via electronic means where members will send names of their preferred candidates to the Returning Officer, Board Secretary Mr Reuben Kajokoto, via his WhatsApp number +260 9777 82778.
7.0 Counting of votes will start immediately after the close of voting and announcement of results will be done after the counting is completed and the results certified by the Returning Officer. The new Executive will formally be announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be organised by the current National Executive Committee (NEC) according to the Constitution.
8.0 Members shall be required to vote for members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and their Chapter Executive Committees (CEC) whose Electoral College shall be compiled by the Secretary General.
9.0 All Ex Chipepo Secondary School Students are eligible to vote in these elections.
