Corridors of Hope III Project (COH)

Corridors of Hope III Project (COH) Corridors of Hope (COH) was a five year project which began in September 2009, and will end in September 2014.The project went through 3 phases.

The Project is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through USAID The Corridors of Hope HIV/AIDS Prevention Initiative (COH III) forms part of the USAID-supported regional ROADS Project through PEPFAR. COH III runs from October 2009 to September 2014, and is implemented by FHI in partnership with Afya Mzuri, Zambian Health Education and Communication Trust (ZHECT)

, and the Zambia Interfaith Networking Group on HIV and AIDS (ZINGO). A community-driven and community-based project, COH III aims to decrease HIV transmission, morbidity, and mortality in border and transit districts. One of the main strategies is to provide comprehensive HIV prevention services and behavior and social change interventions. A second is to strengthen referral networks and linkages with organizations that provide HIV care and treatment, as well as those offering legal protection and economic support for women at high risk of HIV and affected by HIV and AIDS.

In light of the ongoing advocacy towards national epidemic preparedness, to keep our communities safe Zambia Health Education and Communications Trust (ZHECT) is hosting a competition to increase awareness and bring out ideas on the best way the country can get a Dedicated Budget on Epidemic Preparedness

We had a meeting with a select number of MPs (4) from the Parliamentary Committee on Health after our Parliamentary question on what the Govt was doing to operationalize the Public Health Emergency Fund, the Public Health Emergency Center and formation of a dedicated budget. The meeting was set up to review the Minister's response and plan the way forwardingResolutions:1. Make an appointment to meet the Minister to discuss the new developments on the Public Health Emergency Fund operationalization,2. Meeting to put information together after the technical Committee meeting to conclude the statutes for the operationalization 3. Form a WhatsApp group that will be used to increase interaction between the Committee and the Parliamentary Committee on Health select team. PARLIAMENTARYHEALTHCOMMITTEE
