🎓 Today's Graduates, Tomorrow's Leaders. 🚀

On Thursday 6th August , we witnessed history in the making as we proudly celebrated the Graduation Ceremony of our very first Technovation Girls Zambia Cohort!

Watching these brilliant young girls step up to the podium was a powerful reminder that innovation starts here.

They have spent months dreaming, designing and developing tech solutions and they officially became the leaders of tomorrow.

We were honoured to have the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Technology and Science represented by the Director of Planning and Information, Mr Derrick Saboi, as our Guest of Honour.

Our Senior Division team also wowed the room with a live demo of their app confident, poised and ready to field questions from the audience like true innovators. And a special shoutout to our youngest innovator, just 8 years old and already building the future!

Our CEO, Cecilia Zandile Zimba, closed the ceremony with a heartfelt appeal for continued support to take this program across the country because every girl in Zambia deserves the chance to innovate.

Everything begins with an idea.

That's the message on our wall at Impact Hub Lusaka and this season, 15 young Zambian women aged 9 to 18 took it and ran with it.

Over 8 weeks, they learned to code, work as a team and build real technology to solve real problems in their own communities, as part of our first ever participation in the Technovation Girls Competition. 👩🏾‍💻

And we are incredibly proud:
our Senior Division team reached the Semifinals of the global
competition! 🏆

None of this would have been possible without our amazing coaches Silvenus Mbewe, Sandra Mulendema, Nancy Nkaka, Catherine Tembo, Chikoma Sakala III, Ndanji Nachangwa and Samuel Mushapa and our coordinators, Martha K Mukubonda and Mbololwa Kalungu-Banda, who held it all together from the first registration to the final submission.

“When a girl learns that she can build the solution and not only wait for one, everything changes.”

Technovation Girls is the world's longest-running tech entrepreneurship programme for young women reaching over 370,000 girls in 120+ countries. We are proud to bring that same opportunity to Lusaka. 🌍
