Kids Alive Zambia and the National Prosecution Authority of Zambia earlier today signed an MOU aimed at โPromoting a child-friendly justice system.โ
In our commitment to ensuring that children live in a community free of fear and violence, we are excited to share that todayโs milestone will continue to strengthen and promote child safeguarding for children in Zambia. As highlighted by the Director of Public Prosecutions in his remarks, โSexual violence against children is a crisis we cannot ignore. With 1 in 3 girls experiencing sexual violence before 18, and thousands of cases reported each yearโฆโ there is a great need to protect every child and restore hope through collaborative efforts.
As our Chief Operations Officer Rachel Davidson stated, "when systems work togetherโlegal, social, and therapeuticโthe outcomes are stronger, more sustainable, and more just. In Guatemala, collaboration raised conviction rates from 3% to over 70%. We believe Zambia can achieve the same transformation."
This partnership is more than justice in the courtroom. It is about healingโwhere children rediscover dignity, find their voice, and believe their story is not over. Together, we envision a system where justice continues through restoration, and where compassion and truth walk hand in hand.
