Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Through Debate!

This morning, the Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation proudly hosted a Secondary Schools Debate Adjudication Workshop—an empowering platform that brought together nearly 30 passionate volunteers from across Lusaka.

The workshop served as a critical preparation step for the upcoming Alexander Mumba Sakala foundation Secondary School Debate Tournament, which is set to be officially launched in just two weeks’ time. This much-anticipated tournament is fully funded and sponsored by none other than Matero’s aspiring Member of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Mumba Sakala—popularly known as M1. His commitment to education, youth empowerment, and leadership development continues to inspire the community.

Workshop facilitator Nikolas Phiri expressed great satisfaction with the day’s outcome, describing the session as a “resounding success.”

Adding depth to the program, Foundation Director, Amb Salifyanji Silungwe Mpundu , eloquently outlined the core values and guiding principles of the Foundation—emphasizing integrity, intellectual growth, and community impact. His presentation left participants motivated and aligned with the Foundation’s vision.

With such energy, preparation, and commitment, the upcoming debate tournament promises to be more than just a competition—it will be a platform for nurturing critical thinkers, confident speakers, and future leaders of Zambia.

A Day of Impact, Inclusion, and Empowerment: The Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation Stands with Persons Living with Disabilities

Today marked a truly memorable and heartwarming occasion as the Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation, in collaboration with the People’s Goals with Achievement organization, hosted a powerful and inclusive gathering attended by hundreds of people living with disabilities.

The event, which was held under the theme of “Empowerment through Inclusion,” brought together a diverse group of individuals and organizations united by a common goal — to uplift, empower, and celebrate persons living with disabilities.

The program opened with welcoming remarks from the Foundation’s Managing Director, Amb Salifyanji Silungwe Mpundu , who reaffirmed the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to serving all members of society, especially those who are often overlooked. His words set the tone for a meaningful and purpose-driven gathering.

Representing the People’s Goals with Achievement organization, Mr. Japhet Banda delivered an inspiring speech that highlighted the incredible strides their organization is making to empower persons living with disabilities through entrepreneurship, skills development, and community integration. His message was a powerful reminder that with the right support, every individual has the potential to thrive.

The highlight of the event came during the closing remarks by our founder, Hon. Alexander Mumba Sakala. Deeply moved by the remarkable work being carried out by the People’s Goals with Achievement team, he pledged a generous donation of K50,000 through the Foundation in support of their ongoing business empowerment project — a gesture aimed at boosting economic independence for people living with disabilities.

In an additional act of kindness and inclusivity, the Foundation also distributed K30,000 in cash support directly to the attendees, a token of appreciation and encouragement for their resilience and determination.

The response from the community was overwhelming. Many expressed sincere gratitude for the love, respect, and recognition they received. For them, this event was not just a meeting — it was a life-changing moment that gave them a renewed sense of hope, belonging, and dignity.

As we brought the event to a close, we echoed a powerful message: “Disability is not inability.” The Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation stands firm in its mission to promote inclusivity and empowerment. We are more than ready to continue working hand-in-hand with organizations that champion the rights and welfare of persons living with disabilities. Together, we can build a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Love is never truly love until it is given away.”
These timeless words came to life today as Alexander Mumba Sakala , through his outreach initiative, paid a heartfelt visit to Home of Happiness—a special orphanage that cares for children living with disabilities.

Leading the compassionate delegation was our dedicated organizational manager, Mr. Amb Salifyanji Silungwe Mpundu, who passionately shared the vision of our founder, Mr. Sakala: to build a community where no one is left behind, regardless of their circumstances or abilities.

The atmosphere was filled with joy, warmth, and laughter as the children welcomed us with open arms. Our team came bearing thoughtful gifts—symbols of our love, support, and solidarity. The smiles on the children’s faces reminded us that small acts of kindness can leave lasting impressions and build bridges of hope.

But this was more than just a visit. It was the beginning of a meaningful and long-term partnership with Home of Happiness. We pledged our ongoing support, not just in material ways, but through consistent engagement, care, and advocacy for children with disabilities.

At the heart of Mr. Sakala’s mission is a simple yet powerful belief: every child deserves love, dignity, and equal opportunity. And today, we took one step closer to making that belief a reality.

Together, we’re not just creating change—we’re nurturing a legacy of love and inclusion.
