A Day of Impact, Inclusion, and Empowerment: The Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation Stands with Persons Living with Disabilities
Today marked a truly memorable and heartwarming occasion as the Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation, in collaboration with the People’s Goals with Achievement organization, hosted a powerful and inclusive gathering attended by hundreds of people living with disabilities.
The event, which was held under the theme of “Empowerment through Inclusion,” brought together a diverse group of individuals and organizations united by a common goal — to uplift, empower, and celebrate persons living with disabilities.
The program opened with welcoming remarks from the Foundation’s Managing Director, Amb Salifyanji Silungwe Mpundu , who reaffirmed the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to serving all members of society, especially those who are often overlooked. His words set the tone for a meaningful and purpose-driven gathering.
Representing the People’s Goals with Achievement organization, Mr. Japhet Banda delivered an inspiring speech that highlighted the incredible strides their organization is making to empower persons living with disabilities through entrepreneurship, skills development, and community integration. His message was a powerful reminder that with the right support, every individual has the potential to thrive.
The highlight of the event came during the closing remarks by our founder, Hon. Alexander Mumba Sakala. Deeply moved by the remarkable work being carried out by the People’s Goals with Achievement team, he pledged a generous donation of K50,000 through the Foundation in support of their ongoing business empowerment project — a gesture aimed at boosting economic independence for people living with disabilities.
In an additional act of kindness and inclusivity, the Foundation also distributed K30,000 in cash support directly to the attendees, a token of appreciation and encouragement for their resilience and determination.
The response from the community was overwhelming. Many expressed sincere gratitude for the love, respect, and recognition they received. For them, this event was not just a meeting — it was a life-changing moment that gave them a renewed sense of hope, belonging, and dignity.
As we brought the event to a close, we echoed a powerful message: “Disability is not inability.” The Alexander Mumba Sakala Foundation stands firm in its mission to promote inclusivity and empowerment. We are more than ready to continue working hand-in-hand with organizations that champion the rights and welfare of persons living with disabilities. Together, we can build a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
