I hope to see a world where tumours are no longer life-threatening savages and is instead handled with the ease and simplicity of drinking a glass of water.

This , we stand in solidarity with every Zambian fighting a brain tumour. From the wards of the Cancer Diseases Hospital U.T.H to homes across our ten provinces, we honor the survivors, support the fighters, and remember those we have lost. Brain tumours don’t discriminate, and in Zambia, early detection remains our strongest weapon. The Zambia Medical Association reminds us to look out for persistent headaches, unusual neurological changes, or blurred vision —seeking medical help early truly can save lives.
How you can help:
🩶 Wear Gray: Post a selfie in your favorite gray outfit to show support.
📢 Share Knowledge: Remind your family and friends that early diagnosis is key.
🤝 Support Local Advocacy: Follow the Brain Tumour Awareness Program to learn how you can volunteer or donate to patient support programs. Together, we create many voices with a shared goal: a Zambia where every patient gets the efficient and timely healthcare they deserve.

As a brain tumour survivor, walking the 10k the Kenneth Kaunda Day Marathon for the first time post-op was thrilling. I almost gave up at the start point because I thought I wouldn't make it past the 5k mark. But then I made it. When we are faced with hard decisions in life we tend to just stop and cover that page. Well, you can cover it but it won't flip. You'll still face the same adversity. We have more to gain by taking a chance. The possibilities and ways of prolonging our lives after a BT experience are endless. We must build the willingness to live. We are stronger than we think.

The Ministry of Health is revolutionizing cancer care by expanding screening services and bolstering capacity across all 116 districts, paving the way for a healthier future by the end of 2026. Recent reports indicate a severe shortage of specialized cancer professionals, with only around 88 personnel available against a requirement of over 3,000. Expanding facilities without enough oncologists, radiologists, neurosurgeons, and pathologists creates a bottleneck. We, the Brain Tumour Awareness Program urge the responsible office to address the critical shortages in human resources, financial sustainability, and specialized treatment access to healthcare.
