Hands of Mercy is an adult- day care facility and provides social amenities to the elderly.

Hands of Mercy was formed to respond to nthe needs faced by most senior citizens who are abandoned and neglected when their years of productivity comes to an end and as such they are faced with alot of challenges trying to fend for themselves in their remaining years of their lives. Hence embarking on this program, Hands of Mercy will be supplementing Governments efforts in the communities to care for our senior citizens by providing shelter, food, medical care and other basic essentials.

❤️ A Saturday Well Spent. Hearts Well Filled.

This past Saturday, 1st August 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Kupes YoungWomen's Network, through the Kupes Cares Department, to Hands of Mercy Adult Day Care Centre.

The day was filled with smiles, laughter, warm conversations, shared meals, grooming activities, and moments that reminded our elderly residents that they are loved, valued, and never forgotten.

Growing older should never mean growing lonely. Sometimes, the greatest gift we can offer is our presence, our time, and a listening ear.

To the entire Kupes team, thank you for choosing to spend your Saturday with our mothers and fathers. Your kindness created memories that will be cherished for a long time.

Together, we continue to build a community where compassion thrives and every generation feels seen, heard, and appreciated. ❤️

On Saturday, Hands of Mercy had the honour of hosting the Uttar Bhartiya Sangh for a beautiful day filled with song, dance, laughter, and meaningful interaction with our elderly residents. ❤️

The group generously donated assorted groceries, blankets, clothes, and shoes towards supporting the wellbeing of our residents. 🙏🏽

We sincerely appreciate this act of compassion, generosity, and community support. Together, we continue to restore dignity, hope, and care for the elderly. ✨

Yesterday, we had the honor of welcoming St Ignatius College to Hands of Mercy for a meaningful afternoon of connection, compassion, and shared humanity.

One of the most impactful moments of the visit was our “Echoes of Wisdom” session, where the elderly shared reflections drawn from lived experience and generational insight. Among the messages shared was the importance of being watchful of the influences around us, carefully choosing what our ears accept as truth, remaining grounded in our Creator, and restoring reverence and respect for elders within society.

It was a powerful reminder that wisdom does not merely come with age, but through endurance, faith, reflection, and lived experience.

We remain deeply grateful to the students and staff of St. Ignatius College for their presence, companionship, donations, and willingness to listen and learn from the elderly in our care.

As Hands of Mercy continues to support over 100 beneficiaries, one of the major challenges we face is limited space and inadequate facilities to fully accommodate and provide holistic support for the growing number of elderly individuals under our care.

Our vision remains the establishment of a larger residential facility that will provide dignity, safety, belonging, and comprehensive care for the elderly in our community.

Thank you to every individual and institution that continues to stand with us in preserving dignity, restoring hope, and ensuring that the voices and wisdom of the elderly are never forgotten.

Polio Awareness Matters – Let’s Protect Our Communities 💙

Hands of Mercy recently participated in a Ministry of Health Zambia briefing on the ongoing Polio Campaign, represented by Ms. Victoria Mupinde - Director Operations

Polio is a serious and highly infectious disease that can cause paralysis and even death. It spreads easily, especially in areas with poor sanitation and low vaccination coverage. With an outbreak currently in Zambia, we all have a role to play.

Here’s how we can all help:
✔️ Ensure children receive routine immunisation
✔️ Practice good hygiene at home and in public spaces
✔️ Encourage caregivers and parents to vaccinate children
✔️ Share accurate information within your community

Bridging Generations Through Conservation 🌱

We were honored to host The Nature Conservancy Zambia at Hands of Mercy for an awareness session with our elderly beneficiaries. The visit created a beautiful moment of intergenerational learning and reflection.

Our elders shared powerful insights on how conservation was practiced in the past—planting trees, cutting only branches instead of entire trees to allow proper growth, regulating the hunting of animals, and protecting water sources. These traditional practices show that environmental stewardship has long been part of our communities.

The discussion also explored women and land ownership. Many shared how cultural systems, particularly the patrilineal structure, often limited women’s ability to own land unless through marriage. While women today are increasingly empowered to own land independently, the conversation also reminded us of the importance of balancing empowerment with strong family and community values.

We are deeply grateful to The Nature Conservancy Zambia for facilitating this meaningful dialogue and for donating assorted items worth K7,000 to support our elderly beneficiaries.

Moments like these remind us that wisdom from the past can guide sustainable practices for the future.

On 18th December, 2025we were reminded of the power of partnership and compassion 💙

Hands of Mercy hosted a Medical Boot Camp, led by Daisy Care in partnership with Yash Pharmaceuticals, Vision Care, Automagic Ltd, and My Box. The boot camp provided much-needed medical support and services to our beneficiaries, making a real difference in their day-to-day wellbeing.

On the same day, we were also blessed to receive assorted donated items from Lila Zambia. Your generosity brought comfort, dignity, and smiles to many.

We are deeply grateful to all our partners and supporters who continue to stand with us in service to humanity. Together, we are building healthier and stronger communities.
