We were among the key stakeholders that participated in the Zambia Forest Economy Roundtable meeting convened by the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment. The meeting was organized in collaboration with the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and graced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, Dr. Douty Chibamba.

The roundtable aimed to provide a multi-stakeholder platform to:

1. Examine key challenges affecting Zambiaโ€™s forestry sector.

2. Propose policy and regulatory reforms.

3. Identify strategic and actionable next steps to strengthen the forest economy.

As the saying goes Water is life. This World Water Day, we are reminded of the importance of carefully utilising one of our planetโ€™s most precious resources. Every drop matters from conserving water in our daily lives to protecting rivers, wetlands, and natural ecosystems that sustain communities and wildlife. Letโ€™s use water wisely.

A total of 1,123 trees were planted in Kabwe at Boswell Imakando Correctional Training School as part of a national programme focused on restoring degraded land, advancing environmental sustainability, and strengthening food security. With the support of private sector partners such as ourselves and MAJORU Investment MD, Mr Joseph Weltin.

This reflects the importance of cross sector collaboration in addressing climate and environmental challenges because sustainable action today safeguards tomorrow.

The effects of environmental degradation are here and the future
impacts we once perceived are now reality from droughts to floods worldwide to ecological imbalances day in and day out. Climate change is knocking on our doors, and it's time we answered.

We often wait for others to make a difference, but the truth is, we don't wait for anyone to cause harm to our environment. We drive smoking cars, cut trees for charcoal, without waiting for permission, or to be a team first. So why not
do good too?

Our hope and aim, as The Mupapa Initiative is to lead the charge through our tree planting projects and not just at Mwembeshi correctional farm but throughout Zambia. Let us all rise up to this challenge of saving our planet!

We finally completed our goal of planting 2,500 trees by January at Mwembeshi Remand Prison joined by Livestock Services and Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative Society of Zambia Limited. We continue our ambitious plan to plant two million trees across Zambia within the next two years in a major push to combat deforestation, restore degraded land and strengthen climate resilience.
