ZAMBIA'S CRUSADE AGAINST MALARIA: A RAY OF HOPE

In a bid to combat the deadly malaria scourge, the End Malaria Council (EMC) of Zambia has been working tirelessly to raise awareness, mobilize resources, and support community-driven initiatives. With the country's Republican President as its patron, the EMC has made significant strides in the fight against malaria since establishment in 2019.

According to Dr. Elizabeth Chizema, EMC Zambia,National Coordinator. Malaria remains a significant challenge in Zambia, with four to five deaths occurring daily, mostly among vulnerable children.

So far, 6,000 bikes have been distributed to community health workers in districts such as Petauke, Katete, Mansa, Lufwanyama, and Ngabwe.

The EMC has also collaborated with international organizations like the Against Malaria Foundation (AMF), which has donated over 11 million mosquito nets and repellents in previous campaigns to the Ministry of Health (MOH) The council is exploring new initiatives, such as the spatial repellent developed in Kenya, to enhance malaria prevention efforts.
