A WIN FOR ZAMBIA!!! THE TO***CO CONTROL BILL HAS JUST PASSED THE 3RD READING!

We are celebrating and impressed by the Government of Zambia, for the successful passage of the To***co Control Bill at its third readingโ€”a historic step forward for public health.

This progressive legislation introduces critical measures including a ban on to***co advertising and promotion, protection of children through restrictions on sales to minors, the establishment of smoke-free public spaces, provision of cessation services, and the creation of a dedicated To***co Control Fund to support sustained implementation. It also aligns Zambia with global best practice under the World Health Organization Framework Convention on To***co Control, particularly in limiting to***co industry interference in public health policy.

This milestone demonstrates Zambiaโ€™s commitment to prioritising the health and well-being of its people over to***co industry interests, even in a context where to***co production has long held economic influence.

Mr. President, To***co is one of the MAJOR risk factors to cancer, we have more cancer Cancer cases than ever and it is really affecting our many families. Today, we call upon you The President of the Republic of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema to urgently assent to the Bill so it can be enacted into law and implemented without delay.

A healthier, to***co-free Zambia is within reach.
