International Day of the Girl Child 2025 🎉
Theme: “The Girl I Am – The Change I Lead”

On the 11 October, 2025. We proudly joined the global celebration of International Day of the Girl Child by joining hands with REACH ONE CHILD Foundation to host an awareness and menstrual hygiene care pack donation at Dorca Land Community School in John Howard, supporting girls aged 16–24.

The program included an interactive
session centered on empowering young women to recognize their worth, raise their voices, and take the lead in their communities. It was a powerful reminder that every girl has the potential to be a leader and a changemaker.

We were honored to have the Zambia Police reinforcing the importance of safety and protection for girls in every space.

This impactful initiative was made possible through strong collaboration with our amazing partners:
🤝 Reach One Child Foundation
🤝 YWCA
🤝 Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ)
Together, we’re creating safe, supportive environments where girls can thrive.

We're excited to share that we have received generous donations of bar soaps for our upcoming International Day of the Girl Child event happening this Saturday from YWCA.

These soaps will be included in care packs that we'll be distributing to girls as part of our efforts to promote menstrual hygiene and overall well-being.

You can’t talk about raising leaders without addressing period poverty. Lack of access to basic hygiene products puts girls at risk, not just of health issues, but also of gender-based violence and stigma.

Through this initiave REACH ONE CHILD Foundation and Nyali Zm aim to promote dignity, empowerment, and ensuring thats every girl has the support she needs to thrive.

Let’s continue to break the silence, uplift our girls, and build a future where no one is held back by something as natural as their period.

Thursdays in Black: Because Silence is Not an Option

Between April and June 2025, Zambia recorded 10,170 cases of Gender-Based Violence an increase of 852 cases (8.4%) in just three months. These are not just numbers. They are lives disrupted, bodies harmed, futures destroyed.

Every Thursday, we wear black to mourn the violence, to honor survivors, and to demand change. Thursdays in Black is more than a campaign it's a movement of resistance, solidarity, and hope.

It calls us: To challenge cultures of impunity, to protect the vulnerable, and to build communities of care.

Every Thursday, Let Zambia rise in black, in every province, in every workplace, school, and home. Let this act become a national symbol of our refusal to accept violence as normal.

🌍💪 We recently took part in a Climate Change Training with a Gender Lens!

This empowering session brought together SIDA CSO partners and MEZ members to deepen our understanding and sharpen our skills in integrating gender perspectives into climate action and advocacy.

This training is cardinal in advancing gender equality and promoting the wellbeing of women and girls, who are often the most affected by climate change. By equipping ourselves with the right knowledge and tools, we can ensure that climate solutions are inclusive, fair, and responsive to the unique needs and strengths of women and girls. 🌱♀️
