We are very happy to announce our partnership with Voyaqua. A groundbreaking tool which closes the rift between your travel and
the water it takes.

Voyaqua calculates your travel water footprint and how much it costs an NGO to deliver this to the communities which lack water in the same areas you are visiting.

Heard of carbon offset. Why not water offset?

This is our impact. Mwayi takes us through the impact of Africa Access Water on her life.

Through our projects, Mwayi has access to clean water for drinking and crucially for farming her crops. With extreme droughts continuing to worsen, solar-powered water systems ensure reliable conditions for growing vegetables year-round. Mwayi earns a sustainable income, can send her daughter to school, and lives a healthier and happier life.

Mwayi means opportunity - Now you have the opportunity to help bring water, food, and income to more communities like hers.

Last weekend, 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿.

In solidarity with the millions of people who walk every day to collect water, supporters of Africa Access Water took on the Water of Leith Walkway in Edinburgh — over 20km from Balerno to Leith.

At the same time, communities near our project sites in Zambia organised their own walk, and we began the day with a live call between the two groups — Scotland and Zambia connected by one shared goal: access to clean water.

Thanks to everyone who walked, donated, and shared the fundraiser, we are now on track to surpass £2,000.

That means around 200 people gaining access to clean drinking water for decades.

There is still time to support and help us push the total even further:

We also launched 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 — more on that tomorrow.

Today is

Education doesn’t only happen in classrooms. Across rural Africa, learning happens through hands-on agricultural training, where knowledge is applied directly to land, water, and livelihoods.

At Africa Access Water ( ), we work with communities to deliver practical training in climate-smart agriculture and agri-economics—linked to solar-powered water systems. This equips communities to grow food, generate income, and plan for long-term resilience.

When education is rooted in practice, it strengthens food security, builds confidence, and turns access into opportunity.

Over the next few weeks, we’re highlighting how Africa Access Water ( ) contributes to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals ( ).

This week: SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation

What it means: Ensuring availability and sustainable management of water for all.

How we deliver: AfAW installs solar-powered water systems that provide safe, reliable water for households and productive use. These community-owned systems go beyond single-use boreholes: they are maintained locally, generate income, and support long-term resilience.

Impact so far: Over 30,000 people now access clean water through AfAW’s solar systems—proving that water access can be a catalyst for livelihoods, food security, and community development.
