🦽❤️ TODAY, OUR CHILDREN GOT MORE THAN WHEELCHAIRS — THEY GOT DIGNITY, HOPE & FREEDOM!

What a beautiful and joyful day it has been! 🥹❤️

Today, children from Musaro Foundation were among many children who received wheelchairs and other mobility devices through the support of Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) and its partner.

This was not simply about receiving a wheelchair.
Each child was assessed individually to understand their needs, mobility challenges and physical requirements, so that they can be provided with a wheelchair that is suitable for them. 🦽❤️

For us, this means so much.
Because behind every wheelchair is a child who deserves to move with dignity, participate in life and experience greater independence.

And behind every child is a parent or caregiver who carries not only their child, but also the emotional and physical challenges that come with caregiving.

That is why we are equally grateful that parents received counselling and support to help them face their daily challenges with courage, strength and grace. ❤️

And then came another beautiful surprise.
Shoprite Zambia were right there on site, providing a delicious meal that brought even more smiles and happiness to the children. 🍲😊❤️

Today, we witnessed something beautiful:
Children smiling. Parents relieved. Hearts filled with gratitude.

For some families, this means they no longer have to carry their children on their backs everywhere they go. It means a child can move with greater dignity, and a parent can breathe a little easier. 🥹❤️

This is what partnership looks like.
This is what compassion looks like.
This is what inclusion looks like. 🙌❤️

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO HONOURABLE FRANCIS KOPE ❤️

Some moments are more than just occasions—they become memories that remind people that they are seen, they are heard, and they matter.

We extend our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to Honourable Francis M Kope for hosting a luncheon for persons with disabilities, including our children and widows caring for children living with disabilities.

For our children and their mothers, this was not simply a luncheon. It was a moment of dignity, inclusion, and hope. It was a rare privilege to sit at the same table with Honourable Kope and his team to share a meal, and, most importantly, have him listen to the realities they face every single day.

Behind every child living with a disability is often a mother or caregiver carrying an enormous responsibility—providing care around the clock, facing financial challenges, and sometimes having to choose between basic needs....Having an opportunity to speak about these realities directly was deeply meaningful.

As Honourable Kope expressed his gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema for his nomination under the Mixed-Member Proportional Representation System, Our hearts were filled with Much appreciation too to President Hakainde Hichilema as this brings renewed hope for greater representation of persons with disabilities and for their voices and concerns to receive the attention they deserve in Parliament.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities for inviting us and creating this important opportunity for meaningful engagement.

For our children and their families, being invited to the table means more than sharing a meal—it means being recognised as part of the conversation about the future.

Today, we celebrate a simple but powerful message:
*Persons with disabilities have voices.
*Their families have stories.
*Their challenges deserve to be heard.
*And their dreams deserve a place in the future of our nation.

Government Registers Over 151,000 Persons With Disabilities

Government has registered 151,323 persons with disabilities and distributed 16,339 assistive devices countrywide between 2022 and 2026.

Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Angela Kawandami said 357,843 households with persons with disabilities are currently benefiting from the Social Cash Transfer Programme.

She explained that of these, 196,503 households caring for persons with severe disabilities receive an enhanced monthly transfer of K1,200.

Ms. Kawandami told ZNBC News that the registration, conducted through the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities, is aimed at linking beneficiaries to services such as the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission, Constituency Development Fund, and other livelihood support programmes.

The distributed assistive devices include wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, canes, crutches, braille displays, hearing aids, and white canes.

Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities will be distributing wheelchairs in Lusaka soon. If you know anyone in need of a wheelchair and they are not aware, please get in touch with us as soon as you can.

One requirement is a disability Card. If they do not hava a disability card, please get in touch so you can be enlightened on how to get one.
