Please help us get soccer cleats for our Appleseed teams in Zambia! We need about 45 pairs at at total of 45,000 kwacha. This is about $500. Unfortunately we are not able to ship to Zambia.

If you live in Lusaka and can help with donations, I can arrange pick up.

Our Appleseed teams made it to Livingstone. The trip was not without turmoil, which is not uncommon in Zambia. Here’s how it began and where we are now.

Saturday, Dec. 13th :
6:00 pm- Players arrived at RHO Appleseed Community Center. The bus was scheduled to arrive at 6:00am.

Sunday, Dec. 15
5:00 AM - The bus arrived an hour early and the driver told Coach Shadreck that they could not go to Livingstone. This had been arranged 2 weeks ago and confirmed!! “TIA” as they say. “ This is Africa.”

Shad jumped into emergency mode and found another bus. More expensive of course , but … Did I say, TIA? They left at 2:00pm and didn’t arrive at David Livingstone School
until 2:00am. They got their assigned classrooms and settled in for the night,

Play was scheduled to start on Monday. But, other teams coming from Lusaka had it even worse. They took the train. The Zambian train system has never been reliable. As of Monday morning they hadn’t yet arrived so play was postponed until Tuesday. TIA.

On the positive side. The kids love their accommodations “The best,” Coach Shadreck explained, “ is that we have our own Bathing Room.” This is a very special feature. No hot water, but this is a luxury. Shad says the Livingstone school and compound is much nicer than those in Lusaka. Oh and the MANGO TREES! They are everywhere! That’s pretty special too.

Wow! It's hard to believe this was 14 years ago. This experience of starting RHO Appleseed and meeting so many amazing people was life changing. the 2 little girls on the end Dainess and Susan are still in touch and a part of my life. This picture was taken just 2 months before my daughters, Jenny and Lucy, joined Appleseed. Sometimes I wonder what my life would have been like if we never took the huge leap to Africa. I wouldn't know what I was missing, but the completeness of my life and family came in the moving to and then coming home from Zambia. ❤ I am one lucky woman! ❤

Still trying to get there! Please helpand share!
