On November 18, 2025, Rotary District 9210 Governor (DG) Marshal Chilenga, continued showing off his Eco-championess, when he joined the Rotary Club of Mansa for a tree planting and environmental awareness event.

During the event, trees were planted at Mansa Trades and Vocation School of Mansa Town. The event was attended by a very jubilant team of students that was eager to be part of the action. In addition, the students were given a motivation speech on how they can be flag carrier of environmental stewardship.

On November 13, 2025, Rotary District 9210 Governor (DG) Marshal Chilenga joined forces with Kabwe's Rotary and Rotaract Clubs for a tree-planting event at Mine Primary School. The school's located in an area heavily affected by pollution, mainly due to lead-rich dust spreading from the nearby abandoned mine dump. This has led to high lead levels in the soil, posing a health risk. By planting trees, they're aiming to reduce the spread of lead and create a safer environment.
DG Marshal stressed that Kabwe's Rotary and Rotaract Clubs should make it a habit to engage in projects tackling the town's environmental issues.

Later on, in the evening DG Marshal officially chartered the Rotaract Club of Kabwe.

Why can’t we just plant trees anywhere?
Take this MALAIKMO for example. Because of its massive and spreading root system, it is not suitable for planting along roadsides or near residential and commercial buildings. Either the tree will not grow properly, or it will eventually damage the pavement or nearby structures. It is also not appropriate for areas with narrow or limited space.

So where should it be planted?
If we consider the size of its root system alone, it is more suitable for wide, open spaces, such as large parks, mangrove-adjacent areas, rainforests, and riparian zones. Basta may malawak na space for its root system. It is also important to ensure that the site characteristics match the tree’s growth and development requirements, including proper soil quality and other environmental conditions.
