CBEMC Mine Site Visit – Kansanshi Mining PLC
1st October 2026

EITA and the 35 Community Based Environmental Monitoring Committee (CBEMC) members from Kabwela, Kyafukuma, Muzabula and Mbonge communities took part for a Mine Site Visit.

The visit aimed at promoting transparency and enhancing understanding of our environmental management programmes.

We toured:
-Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF) rehabilitation works
-Tree Nursery for indigenous species
-Sediment ponds for water management
Game Reserve - home to Kudus, Pukus, Lechwes, Elands, Sables, Impalas & Giraffes.

The engagement strengthened collaboration between Kansanshi Mine and host communities and reinforced our commitment to environmental stewardship and community safety.

It was all about transparency, learning and working together for a safer environment🌱

Our EITA representatives Emily Yandisha and Fortunate Liyanda, alongside the Kansanshi Mine Environmental Team were among a community monitoring training program that took place a week-ago in solwezi .

The training focused on the importance of environmental monitoring and how communities can contribute to identifying environmental concerns and communicating observations to relevant stakeholders.

Real environmental change starts with the people who live closest to it.

EITA is collaborating with FQM Kansanshi Mine’s Environment and CSR teams to implement Community-Based Environmental Monitoring in four host communities.

By equipping communities with the knowledge and tools to monitor their environment, we are fostering shared responsibility, informed decision-making, and sustainable development.

Together, we’re creating a future where communities are not just beneficiaries, but active partners in environmental protection.
