“When Ruth was born, I was so surprised. I had never seen a child who looked like that before,” her mother, Ivy, recalls.
Born with a cleft lip and palate, Ruth faced challenges from the very beginning. Speaking was difficult, and at school, she was often bullied because of her appearance. Some days were harder than others, but Ruth never stopped going to school and never stopped hoping for a brighter future.
Today, that future looks a little brighter.
After receiving life-changing cleft surgery at CURE Children's Hospital in Zambia, Ruth is doing well and proudly showing off her beautiful new smile. The little girl who once struggled with confidence now has a reason to smile bigger than ever before.
For Ruth's parents, seeing their daughter smile without fear is a gift beyond words. We are grateful to God for what He is doing in Ruth's life.
