Season’s Greetings and Appreciation from CEPRON ZAMBIA

As the year 2025 draws to a close, CEPRON ZAMBIA extends its heartfelt appreciation to our esteemed partners and friends for your unwavering confidence, trust, and solidarity throughout the year.

This year has been one of profound reflection and resilience. Amid significant global and local pressures, CEPRON ZAMBIA, like many Non-profit-driven organisations, faced moments that tested our capacity to sustain operations and remain steadfast in service. Progress was made possible only through sacrifices: moral, material, and financial, often drawn from limited resources, yet guided by an unshakable belief in purpose.

These realities compelled us to rethink, recalibrate, and strengthen our strategic approach to ensure that CEPRON ZAMBIA remains relevant, efficient, and sustainable in 2025 and beyond. Through it all, your belief in our mission has been both a source of encouragement and a reaffirmation that our work truly matters.

As we reflect, we are reminded of a timeless principle: “The more you sow, the more you reap—you must give before you receive.”

What began as a bold vision, sometimes forged through uncertainty and quiet moments of hardship, has steadily evolved into impactful, community-centred initiatives. With a firm commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and participatory development, CEPRON ZAMBIA continues to advance programmes in sustainable agriculture, ecosystem and environmental stewardship, agro-forestry, capacity building, enterprise development, and ambitious climate action.

We are deeply grateful for our partnership with you. Together, we are achieving outcomes that would not be possible in isolation, demonstrating that collaboration remains the most powerful catalyst for transformational change.

As we prepare to enter 2026, we do so with humility, resolve, and hope, fully aware that our continued success is anchored in the goodwill, partnership, and shared vision of organisations and individuals like you.

On behalf of CEPRON ZAMBIA, please accept our sincere gratitude for walking this journey with us. May the coming year strengthen our collective resolve to serve, uplift, and build sustainable futures, because service to others remains the true essence of our success.

With warm festive wishes and deep appreciation,

🌱 “From Market to Backyard:
Could Homegrown Potatoes Cut Zambia’s Rising Costs?” 🥔

• Do you think urban gardening can realistically reduce Zambia’s dependency on imported potatoes?
• What barriers (space, knowledge, or resources) might stop households from trying this?
• Would you personally try growing potatoes at home if it meant saving money on nshima relish?

🌱 Growing Potatoes in Small Urban Spaces: Yes, You Can!

Did you know you can grow your own potatoes even if you live in a city with limited space? Here’s how:
1️⃣ Choose the Right Container: Use grow bags, buckets, or even old tires. Just make sure they have drainage holes!
2️⃣ Pick compact varieties: Opt for smaller potato varieties available in your area for better yields in tight spaces.
3️⃣ Layer Smartly: Start with soil, add seed potatoes, and cover lightly with straw/dry grass and repeat till full. As they grow, keep “hilling” (adding soil) to encourage more tubers.
4️⃣ Sunlight & Water: Place your container in a sunny spot (6+ hours of sunlight) and water consistently potatoes love moisture but not soggy roots.
5️⃣ Harvest & Enjoy: In a few months, you’ll have fresh, homegrown potatoes ready to roast, mash, or fry!

Urban gardening is all about creativity and making the most of what you have. Who’s ready to grow their own spuds? 🥔✨
